James Cornish

Hi, my name is James Cornish (Northside Fishing) and I currently reside in the beautiful Brisbane Queensland. I was born in NSW and moved to Qld around the age of 7 and have been here ever since.

My passion for fishing began around age 10, fishing with my Dad and brother at Deepwater Bend, trying to fool the Pine River bream population on prawns bought from our local servo or tackle shop.

That was 18 years ago and the obsession has grown into a complete addiction for fishing of all kinds.

I’ve been kayak fishing for over five years now in the freshwater creeks, rivers, lakes, dams, offshore and beyond and I find it comes really naturally to me. Kayaking allows you to experience some amazing, untouched and beautiful places not accessible by land or boat.

Freshwater fishing allows me to follow my greatest passion, the iconic Australian bass. Chasing these beautiful species season in/out never gets old and can be quite hard to pull me from the fresh at times. The fight in these hearty little fish is just insane and sure gets my blood pumping. Will chase Bass till the day I depart.

I also love saltwater fishing too. From the reefs of the Redcliffe Peninsular to the estuaries of QLD and wherever the opportunity arises, chasing flatty, bream, jew, jacks, trevally and whatever else hangs on. All from the kayak which certainly makes for some fun times lol. On my annual trip to Gladstone fishing the Boyne River, I was even towed along a by a large Barramundi for a good 15 minutes. Great fight. Was the moment of a lifetime and why I make the trip every year.

Fishing to me is an escape from the daily grind a time to relax, de-stress and take in the beautiful surrounds we find ourselves.

The plan is to master them all – one species at a time!  :-)

I feel very proud and honored to be part of the Hook-Eze team and glad to be associated with such a great company with great people to match. I look forward to the future with Hook-Eze

I am also associated/sponsored by Mantra Kayaks and Adrenalinfish, both local companies with great products and People to match.
